City of Seattle services during New Year's holiday
All City of Seattle offices will be closed on January 1 in observance of the New Year's holiday. All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will close at 6 pm on New Year's Eve, and will be closed on New Year's Day. No garbage, food and yard waste or recycling collections are scheduled in Seattle on January 1. New Year's Day is a free parking day in Seattle.
Polar Bear Plunge at Lake Washington
Start 2013 off right with a bracing swim in Lake Washington at the Polar Bear Plunge, with registration at 11:00 am, and the plunge at high noon on January 1, at Matthews Beach.
