“Mesothelioma Robbed Us” – Joe’s Story

Posted in November 2012

We have been touched by asbestos in individual ways, yet we are joined together by a bond of community. As a testament to the strength of our global family, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) highlights the courageous stories of our members with the “Share Your Story” feature on our website.

This week, we would like to honor the story of Joe, as shared by his widow Vickie, who is a part of our ADAO family.

We encourage you to submit your personal story by clicking here and following the simple instructions on the page. In sharing, comes healing. Remember, you are not alone.

How has asbestos changed your life? Mesothelioma robbed Joe and myself of growing old together at a stage in our lives when we should’ve been taking holidays, relaxing, and enjoying each other’s company. Instead, our last months together were hellish…chemo made him very sick and did nothing but hold the tumor. Now, each day I have to go on without him…missing him, not being able to share laughs and tears with him.
