    Latest Storytellers Interview: Tom Kenny, SpongeBob Squarepants & So Much More

    On the latest installment of our series Storytellers, Tom Kenny dropped by to chat, and we found out there is so much more to the actor, comedian, voice actor, singer/songwriter than just SpongeBob SquarePants, but man, that’s a lot.

    Ridiculously prolific, Kenny has voiced major characters for, to name but a few, Brickleberry, Mad, Ultimate Spider-Man, Adventure Time, Winnie the Pooh, Futurama, Transformers; and is announcer for Kids’ Choice Awards and MC for Lucha VaVoom.  And that’s not all! You may also remember Tom from his work on the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show, for which he was a writer and cast member.

    Since 1999 Tom has been the voice of Nickelodeon’s cartoon sensation, which was recently named “the most loved TV series in America” by USA Today.  Tune in to hear how Tom developed the voice of SpongeBob Squarepants.

    Now, the show has spawned a holiday album, It’s A SpongeBob Christmas! Album, just released by Nickelodeon Records.  Tom sings and co-wrote ten of the album’s 12 songs with producer Andy Paley (above left) (Brian Wilson, The Beach Boys, Ramones, Madonna), with whom he also co-wrote and recorded the SpongeBob SquarePants: The Best Day Ever album in ’06.

    The release coincides with the new stop-motion animated TV special It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! (inspired by the classic Rankin/Bass Christmas specials) that premiered on CBS on Nov 23 and will run on Nickolodeon Dec 6 at 7:30pEP.
