Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) the Honorable Ray Mabus presents Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Patrick Quill with the Silver Star medal on behalf of the President of the United States during an award ceremony at Camp Pendleton. Mabus also presented the Department of the Navy's highest award, the Navy Cross medal, and two additional Silver Stars to members of Quill's unit for their actions while serving with 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion (MARSOC) operating in the village of Heyderabad, Afghanistan, in July 2010.
