WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night Congressman Steve Austria (R – Beavercreek) released the following statement in reaction to President Obama’s announcement to withdraw troops from Afghanistan:

“This decision must be based on the advice, guidance and expertise of General Petraeus and our military commanders on the ground that can best assess the situation. Most importantly, we must complete our mission successfully and ensure that our men and women serving overseas get home safely. While I remain concerned about publicly announcing a time frame for withdrawal, I look forward to a further Congressional briefing with more specifics about the President’s plan.”
