Seagar'svia Facebook It’s a New Year, and this one brings with it an exciting renovation at Seagar’s. While the redesign is happening in the restaurant, Patrick and I are moving hundreds of bottles of wine, so now seems to be a good time to talk about storage! The most important aspect of proper wine storage is temperature. Wine stored at a temperature that is too high will age much too quickly, and possibly spoil. An appropriate cellar temperature is 55 degrees, which will allow aging to happen as the winemakers intended. An added benefit is that this temperature is very close to perfect for serving. To get white wines to 50 degrees only takes a couple of minutes of chilling, and to get reds to 60 degrees requires a few minutes on the table. Stay tuned next week when I’ll cover more storage tips.
