Its been nine days of smiles at the finish line and at the end of competition at the 2012 Florida International Senior Games & State Championships.  More than 2,200 athletes, age 50 and over competed in 22 sports in Polk County.  Many were out to qualify for the 2013 National Senior Games and many were just out to have a good time.  Pictured at the right (left to right) are Essie Faria, Madelaine "Tiny" Cazel and Jeanne Deprano after finishing the 50 meter dash.

Other highlights of the final day included, the 2011 Florida Senior Games State Championships Male Athlete of the Year, Segismundo Pares, of Ocala, completing lifts of 601, 634 and 650 pounds in the deadlift competition.  The effort earned him the “Push/Pull Award” for the Florida International Senior Games and a gold medal in the deadlift 55-59 age group
