Hilaman Park, formally Winewood Country Club, was purchased by the City of Tallahassee in 1981 and named after former City Commissioner, Chad Hilaman. The course was originally designed by Lawrence Packard and opened in 1971. In 1999, Hilaman Park was renovated under the direction of acclaimed golf course architect Chip Powell, Powell Golf Design,
Hilaman Park is a relatively short course by today's standards but the challenging dogleg holes and rolling hills require accurate shot making. Lakes and ponds come in to play on four holes of the back nine but require only short shots to carry hazards. The course has four sets of tees to match all level of golfers (6333-Blue, 6039-White, 5630-Gold, 5400-Red) and the close proximity of greens to tees allow for quick play and ease of walking despite the rolling hills.
Hilaman Park is the home to several associations including the Hilaman Park Men, Women, and Senior Golf Associations and hosts several charity events throughout the year. Walking is permitted Monday through Friday and after 2:00 PM on Weekends.
