H.Res.XX is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, September 14, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Raul M. Grijalva (D-NY) on September 14, 2009.

H.Res. XX would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Recognizes the achievements and goals of Hispanic-Serving Institutions across the country;
• "Supports the designation of an appropriate week as ‘‘National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week'';
• "Requests the President to issue a proclamation designating such week; and
• "Calls on the people of the United States and interested groups to observe such week with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs to demonstrate support for Hispanic-Serving Institutions."

According to the resolution's findings, the achievements and goals of Hispanic-Serving Institutions are deserving of national recognition; and the week of September 20th would be an appropriate week for such recognition.
