Treasurer
Duties & Responsibilities
The Office of the County Treasurer has numerous responsibilities including:
- Monitoring the receipt and deposit of all funds of the county in depositories designated by the Board of Chosen Freeholders and reporting quarterly to the board (or more often as provided by law) amounts deposited, the institutions of deposit, and rates of interest
- Managing the investment of county funds pending their need for disbursement and having custody of all investments and invested funds of the county government, or those in the possession of the county in a fiduciary capacity, except as may be otherwise provided by law
- Administering the county department and the safekeeping of all bonds and notes of the county and the receipt and delivery of county bonds and notes for transfer, registration, or exchange
- Providing for each warrant check to be authorized, signed, and countersigned
- Managing safe deposit boxes used or rented by the county
- Completing a central payroll for the county and preparing the necessary checks for signature
- Overseeing the county insurance program
