County Counsel
Responsibilities
The County Counsel is the chief legal advisor to county government. The Office of the County Counsel is responsible for providing legal representation, advice and assistance to the Board of Chosen Freeholders, all county agencies, and constitutional officers (County Clerk, Surrogate, and Sheriff). The County Counsel heads the county’s Department of Law, which includes the Office of Weights and Measures / Consumer Protection and County Adjuster.
