  • The 13th Congressional District & Map

Ohio's 13th Congressional District truly is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Congresswoman Sutton has lived most of her life in and around the communities that make up much of the district, and she is proud to represent the people and places she knows and loves so much.

Originally nicknamed the “Turnpike District”, the 13th Congressional District’s unique shape traces across the shoreline of Lake Erie in Lorain County, captures the “Emerald Necklace” of the Cleveland MetroParks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and extends south to include the Portage Lakes State Park in Summit County. The 13th Congressional District is also home to institutions of higher learning such as Lorain County Community College and The University of Akron.

The 13th Congressional District stretches across four of Northeast Ohio’s most populous counties, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit, and it includes all or some of over thirty communities.

Rep. Sutton Votes for Landmark Investment in Veterans to improve Care for the Wounded, Women Veterans, and Veterans' Families

Washington, DC - Yesterday, with support from Representative Betty Sutton (D-OH), the House voted for and passed S. 1963, Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act. The bill will reform and improve veterans' health services by supporting wounded veterans and their families and caregivers, expanding care for female veterans, improving mental health services, and increasing access to health care for veterans in rural areas. Rep. Sutton has been a tireless advocate for ensuring that veterans secure the jobs, benefits, and medical care that they deserve. Rep. Sutton released the following statement on the passage of this critical legislation and the ongoing care for our nation's Veterans:

"Our Armed Forces have been valiantly serving our nation abroad by protecting us from the threat of terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places across the world. Through this bill, veterans will now have increased access to mental health services and those who are catastrophically disabled will no longer be responsible for copayments for their care from the VA. This bill will also provide support for the family members of wounded veterans who have been forced to leave their jobs to provide full-time care. We must ensure that their efforts to defend and protect Americans are honored by caring for their needs upon their return," said Rep. Sutton.

"The care provided to our women in the armed forces for too long has been treated as a secondary concern. Today in Iraq and Afghanistan, our women are serving on the front lines. The bill the House passed today is a step forward toward providing services to women who are returning home by providing care for reintegration and readjustment, child care, and health care to their newborns," Rep. Sutton said.

The bill will now go to the Senate for passage and then to the President to be signed into law.
