  • The 13th Congressional District & Map

Ohio's 13th Congressional District truly is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Congresswoman Sutton has lived most of her life in and around the communities that make up much of the district, and she is proud to represent the people and places she knows and loves so much.

Originally nicknamed the “Turnpike District”, the 13th Congressional District’s unique shape traces across the shoreline of Lake Erie in Lorain County, captures the “Emerald Necklace” of the Cleveland MetroParks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and extends south to include the Portage Lakes State Park in Summit County. The 13th Congressional District is also home to institutions of higher learning such as Lorain County Community College and The University of Akron.

The 13th Congressional District stretches across four of Northeast Ohio’s most populous counties, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit, and it includes all or some of over thirty communities.

Rep. Sutton Announces $1,318,339 for Restoration of Lorain County Transportation Center

Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Betty Sutton (D-OH) announced that the Lorain County Transportation Center will receive a $1,318,339 grant from the Department of Transportation to restore the center's facilities. The Lorain County Transportation Center is on the National Register as a historic structure.

"This landmark will receive the necessary funding for rehabilitation to address increased traffic that is anticipated to be generated by nearby land developments," Rep. Sutton said.
This funding will be applied to a $7,624,441 four-phase project to rehabilitate the structure. Phase one has already been completed.

"It is wonderful to see that Congresswoman Sutton was able to secure more than $1.3 million for us to finish the rehabilitation of the center and consolidate operations to ensure the most efficient use of taxpayer dollars," said Lorain County Transit Commissioner Ted Kalo.

After completion of the center's renovation, the first floor will serve customers with a passenger waiting room, vending and Internet services, public restrooms, ticketing area and baggage handling. There will also be a railroad and transportation museum on the first floor, as well as the administrative office for Lorain County Transit. The second floor of the building will provide additional office space. The site will include a ten bus "pulse" area for Lorain County Transit buses, where all northern and southern routes will converge to exchange passengers. It will also have three bus slips, 76 parking spaces and an area for a rental car facility. The tower addition on the northeast corner of the building will provide passenger access to the elevated railroad track for use by Amtrak.
