Updated: Three Beavers arrested for assault

Three weeks ahead of its Alamo Bowl matchup with Texas, Oregon State will be forced to deal with what appears to be a rather significant situation that could impact its depth for the postseason.

According to The Oregonian, defensive end Rudolf Fifita, defensive tackle Mana Rosa and linebacker Dyllon Mafi were arrested early Saturday morning and remained jailed as of late this afternoon.  Fifita and Rosa were each arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct, while Mafi was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree disorderly conduct and misrepresentation of age by a minor.

Per the police report via the paper, “Fifita and Victim 1 (Wood declined to name the victim) got into a verbal argument outside the restroom at Impulse Bar and Grill that resulted in Fifita punching Victim 1 in the face. After that, ‘Mr. Mafi and Mr. Rosa got involved.’ A friend of Victim 1 then came to Victim 1′s defense, and ‘tried to shield his friend, and he also wound up getting punched in the head and upper shoulders.’”

“Lt. Wood said Fifita, Rosa and Mafi “fled and were located near the bar, where they were arrested” by Officer Mike Withington, who was off duty Saturday afternoon and not available for comment.”

Fifita and Rosa are being held in lieu of a $157,500 bond, with Mafi’s bail set at $161,000.

There has been no comment from the team on the development or what type of punitive measures could be in play for the trio.

Fifita would be the biggest potential on-field loss as his role as regular part of the Beavers’ line rotation has seen him accumulate 5.5 tackles for loss.  Rosa and Mafi have played in 12 and two games, respectively, this season.

    Suspend all three. Give Texas a chance in the Alamo. They need all the help they can get.

    Wait a minute, this must be a mistake. Scholar/Athletes being arrested? For fighting in a bar no less? You’ve got to be kidding me. C’mon… what’s the world coming to? Oregon is acting like Auburn. Anybody get killed? Anyone shot in the ass like that jackass from Auburn who didn’t even know he was shot? I’m surprised he’s still alive seeing how his brain was shot-up.

    @thegamecocker
    Just want to clarify a little.
    These were Oregon State players not Oregon players.
    I realize for a lot of people think there must be only one University out here in the old west, (along with our wagon trains and shootouts), but there are 2 PAC 12 teams from Oregon.
    Both have done well this year but Oregon is the more well known of the two.

    Assaulted by three beavers? Lucky bastards.

    My bad. To be clear, I meant Oregon State all along. Rally, OState is nothing like Auburn. Terry Baker is one of the greatest collegiate athletes of all time! That 99 yard run in the Liberty Bowl was epic. And what he did after he graduated was excellent.

    At first when I saw this headline I thought- I should probably read this. Sounds interesting I figured in this day and age that 3 actual Beavers were arrested for assault, I figured this article had got to be pretty good! But now after reading the article I figured out what Ol’ John Taylor is actually telling us. “If you are an Oakland Raider fan, there is no need to watch the first 3 rounds of the draft. Mafi will be drafted by Oakland in the first round because as per the numbers he is going to need to make more money to pay off his fines he will recieve, followed by Fifita and Rosa and the later rounds.” Thanks John! Now I won’t say to myself what the fuck is Oakland doing? in this years draft. You stay classy Raiders!
