Britain's best new buildings

The film store for the BFI’s collection of 450,000 canisters of highly flammable nitrate and acetate films has been designed with a complex cooling system which keeps the temperature at -5°C and the humidity at 35%. This building will achieve a BREEAM (British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating of ‘excellent’ for its environmental impact.

This year's winners of the RIBA awards range from a house in the shape of a sand dune to the London 2012 Olympic Stadium.
