Boeing’s Dreamliner Arrives in Warsaw
16 November 2012
LOT became the first airline in Europe to have an operational Boeing 787 Dreamliner when the first Dreamliner in its fleet touched down at Warsaw's Chopin Airport on Thursday afternoon. Canon-fire and applause greeted the plane as it landed on the tarmac.
The aircraft was officially welcomed to Poland by First Lady Anna Komorowska, other Polish officials and U.S. Ambassador to Poland Stephen Mull.
Ambassador Mull said: “I want to thank the partnership of LOT and Boeing for helping to remind us all today about the miracle that is human flight. This beautiful machine behind me represents the enormous possibilities of the marriage of American and Polish dreams and technology for cleaner, greener, safer and more comfortable air travel. Not only is this airplane magnificent to behold. It represents the very best flight technology in the world today. It will use 20% less fuel than other airplanes its size. It will be able to fly 14,000 kilometers without refueling. It is the quietest airplane on earth. The facilities and environment inside the aircraft will be more comfortable for passengers than anything ever known in the history of flight. My only complaint is why wasn’t this plane flying when I came to Poland last week?”
