Embassy Reminds Public to Apply Early for Visas to Visit the United States

Mexico City, November 29, 2012 – The United States Embassy in Mexico City reminds travelers who are interested in obtaining or renewing a visa to visit the United States to schedule an appointment well in advance of their planned travel.

The United States receives many visitors during the busy December – January holiday season, all of whom must enter with the proper documentation.  In advance of the busy travel season, the US Embassy in Mexico City recently re-introduced Border Crossing Cards for eligible Mexican tourist and business travelers.  Applicants should be advised that normal processing and delivery for a Border Crossing Card is between two and three weeks.

For those planning to renew previous tourist visas, the Embassy’s Consular Section has expanded its interview waiver program for Mexican visa applicants.  Applicants whose visas are current or have expired within the last four years can now apply to renew without a personal interview.

Applicants should always apply as early as possible in case their individual case requires extra processing.  To take advantage of the increased flexibility of our current appointment availability and ensure those eligible receive their visas for an upcoming trip, apply now.

For instructions on how to schedule an appointment, please visit our non immigrant visa section in our website
