Champion Gear That I Rock

Pay attention. Only Starky Love can rock a Champion hoody with a fur. That pic is from Ne-Yo’s pre-album release party, which shouldn’t be confused with his album release party, which interestingly enough happened before the pre-album release party!? Ok, I’m confused, so before this turns into an otherwise pointless post here’s the video for Ghost and Ne-Yo’s collabo Back Like That, and a snippet of a joint called ‘Angels’ which is supposedly from the upcoming album Ghost is recording with MF Doom.

The Real Killa Cam Part 2

Killahcameron2 .jpg

Back in December I posted about alleged cop killer Allan Cameron, his trial-by-media, and the unlikely stage name he took as an aspiring rapper. Cameron is accused of killing NYPD officer Dillon Stewart and shooting and wounding officer Wiener Phillipe just days later.  In the post I spoke about the insurmountable odds Cameron will likely face in court, and the rush to judgement that the media is usually so quick to make in cases like this.

Well, today the NY Post has an exclusive story on how ballistics evidence from the scene of Phillipe’s shooting conflicts with the NYPD’s version of events:

Phillipe and Stewart’s partner, Officer Paul Lipka, have positively identified Cameron. But sources say a new ballistics report shows that the .380 semiautomatic used to gun down Phillipe was found on another man during an arrest in December.

By that time, Cameron had already been charged with the attacks on the two officers in Brooklyn and was behind bars on Rikers Island.

Also, the man arrested with the .380 — whom cops would not identify — is said to bear an "uncanny resemblance" to the sketch in the wanted poster issued after Phillipe was shot.

"If you saw the sketch and you saw the suspect who was later arrested with the gun, well, they look like they’re brothers," the source said.

Well would you look at that. A few months ago this guy was being torn apart as an ‘subhuman’ cop killer and now all of a sudden it’s entirely possible that he wasn’t involved in either shooting, just like he’s claimed all along. Now, realistically, I know there’s a good chance that he did have something to do with Stewart’s murder, but this just goes to show you how the system will snatch you up and try your case in the tabloids, and all you have to do is fit the description.

The (New) New New York?

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

imiss.jpg

From AHH:

THE NEW OLD NEW NEW YORK!

That bird is talking again! Tru Life, Jay-Z’s recent signee, will be the first to bring Jay-Z and Nas together on wax! Apparently, the trio is going to do a new remix of Tru Life’s "New New York" and show the power of the new Def Jam. Now, this is great, but why are they calling it the "New New York" with two vets on it. I think it should be called the "New/Older New York" or something like that. Either way, I can’t wait to hear this.

Busta Video Argument Recorded

Friday, February 24th, 2006

BustaBus.jpg

The Daily News reports that a secret audio recording of the events leading up to the murder of Israel Ramirez exists and that they have seen portions of a transcript of said recording.

From the NYDN:

On the audio recording, the source said, Rhymes appears to be playing peacemaker during an argument that breaks out amid the taping of the video for his song "Touch It (Remix)."

The voice of a third man, whose identity is not clear, is believed to be the shooter.

That man is heard on the recording calling another man, apparently Rhymes, a bitch, according to the transcript.

Because the argument moved outside the studio, the gunshots that killed Ramirez cannot be heard on the recording, the source said. But the mayhem of the immediate aftermath is captured.

"You can hear screaming and the chaos and the 911 call," the source said.

Apparently some scumbag is trying to sell the tape to the media for $50,000 which is just the ultimate disrespect to Ramirez’s family. Not turning the tape over to police is one thing, but to try to profit from something like this is just inexcusable.

Stray Shots

That’s the video to Ice Cube’s latest, Race Card. The song will be the theme for his upcoming show, Black and White.

SOHH’s Media Chin-Check weighs in on Chris Lighty weighing in on violence in hip hop.

Dallaspenn has scans of the Decepticons article that ran in the last issue of F.E.D.S. magazine.

More on the Common/Skinhead rumor. It appears that the guy wasn’t a racist skinhead, just a Bush supporter, which is pretty much the same thing anyway so again props to Common.

A new Pharoahe Monch album is a beautiful thing.

BREAKING: Rick Ross Doesn’t Know Noriega

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

rick-ross.jpg

During a recent interview with AHH, new Def Jam signee Rick Ross reveals that he does not, in fact, know Noriega. The REAL Noriega:

AllHipHop.com: What did you mean when you said “Noriega owes me favors”? [Manuel "Manolo" Noriega, the Panamanian military leader who was tried and convicted for drug trafficking. He resides in a Miami federal prison]? What does that mean?

Rick Ross: Noriega owe a hundred favors, you know what I’m sayin’? It’s just like, you know, I kick it with [Pablo] Escobar nephew. He live down here. That’s my n***as, you know what I’m sayin’? So I just meant like, you know, real ties with real n***as. That’s what that meant. I don’t know Noriega personally, but I know n***as who have met Noriega. I know n***as who was in federal prison two, three cells down from Noriega. You know what I’m sayin’? And when I talk to them, I let ‘em know you know that’s something I meant to ‘em in the movies. I’m into s**t like that. So I’m gonna stand to that. That’s all that means.

It turns out that he does know the other Noreaga, which makes a little bit more sense. I remember that song was playing and my boy was all into it, and when Ross spit that line he repeated it along with him with mad feeling like he really believed it. I looked at him like, "You know he’s lying right?" and he was like "Oh nah, I know, but it sounds hot." Sheesh.

But let’s forget about Rick Ross for a minute and talk about Busta’s verse on the remix to the same song. Good grief, have you ever heard such a flagrant pack of lies in your life?

"Whenever there is a drought and we need to place an order/I holla at Manuel or Escobar, Pablo’s daughter…"

Negro, stop lying. We all know you’ve been a rap star since you were like 19, so relax with the fake drug lord tales before the Grand Jury you’re about to sit in front of hears you talking that nonsense. I don’t know much about this Rick Ross dude, but I guess it’s possible that he’s moved some coke in his lifetime, but come on Trevor, who do you think you’re talking to here?

Catchy song though, I’ll give you guys that.

Cam vs. Jim Jones?

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

dips.jpg

I’ll give it to Illseed, AHH Rumors is on their game this week:

IS THERE SOME BEEF WITHIN THE DIPLOMATS?

Cam’ron and Jim Jones beefing? Never in a million years! I heard Killa and Capo aren’t really feeling each other these days. I’m not sure, but this is the word. Now, some say it’s because of Jim’s apparent rise beyond Dip Set hypeman and others say there is a power struggle inside the Diplomats. Jim recently missed a press conference reportedly for family reasons, but the streets are saying something is awry. The rest of the crew was there, even Jha Jha! He also didn’t make an appearance in a recent Dip movie. Jim has gone on to be an A&R at Atlantic Records. There is another side that’s not rooted in speculation. Read on…

Maybe since the Rucker tape resurfaced the Capo is having second thoughts about where his loyalty lies? Well, I don’t know if I really buy this one, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
