Hype Williams Directing Jay-Z Comeback Video

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

hype-williams.jpg

I love how Billboard reports this as a legit news item, but still refers to the Jay album as ‘rumored.’ It’s kinda like: well…hypothetically, if Jay was to do a comeback album, Hype would direct the video. Meanwhile you have a quote from Hype saying how much he likes working with Jay. Tomorrow I’m gonna call Def Jam and ask for a comment on this story just for laughs.

(You know, I joke about Jay pushing Hip Hop Is Dead back and doing him, but that’s actually what’s happening isn’t it?)

Video for Snoop’s Vato ft. B-Real That’s the Snoop I know and love.

Here’s the cover for his upcoming Blue Carpet Treatment

Now, I don’t know who he’s talking to, but there’s a brand new freestyle up on Diddy’s Myspace page. "I’m richer bitch!"

Cover for Grown Ass Weezy and his Daddy’s upcoming album.

Meth freestyle (thanks Alex)

Don’t Make Me George Bush The Button

50_and_ GWBush.jpg

I have no idea if this is a new quote or whatever, I really just wanted an excuse to use that picture.

From ContactMusic:

Rapper 50 CENT describes himself as the GEORGE W BUSH of hip-hop – because they are both unpopular. The IN DA CLUB star is a massive fan of the Republican leader, who he calls his "homeboy". He says, "You wanna know something? I actually like Bush. "In some ways, I’m the George W Bush of hip hop – nobody likes me, but I’m still gonna run it for the next four years." But the rapper has no aspirations to emulate his hero. He adds, "I don’t need that kind of pressure. All I need is a sequel to my video game and a new hit single."

Styles P – Time Is Money: October 17

sp-small.jpg

Styles P’s website has finally re-launched (there still isn’t anything really worth looking at) and an announcement posted there, and on his Myspace page, says that October 17th is the do-or-die release date for Time is Money. I’m glad to hear it, but I just hope this album hasn’t been butchered into wackness after all the push backs and label nonsense. I would imagine he had to record a bunch of new songs, since a good 5 or 6 tracks made their way onto the internet and mixtapes. If we’re lucky, those songs will end up actually being good. I can already say that I’m not really feeling that single, Who Want A Problem, but that’s due more to the fact that I think Swizz Beatz should’ve retired back in ’01. It’ll be what it is, but I have this feeling that SP is going to deliver on this one.

The Eminem Air Max

In case you haven’t heard Em is auctioning off a bunch of custom designed Air Max’s on Ebay so he can help buy Bizarre a new showercap or some shit. This design is pretty decent in my opinion. The one thing I don’t like is his name on the sneaker, because I don’t really do rapper branded clothing of any sort, but maybe that’s just me. Other than that, they aren’t awful, which kind of surprises me since Eminem might be the worst dressed person in hip hop. Who in their right mind still rocks Nike gear head to toe, then tops it off with a hat that looks like it was purchased at a gas station? Grow up Marshall.

Anyway, this pic was jacked from Prohiphop, where you can also see the Big Proof version.

Wow, Outkast loses to Danity Kane. Is this the begining of the end for of the Great Southern Dynasty of the new millenium?

C-Murder thought he was good when he attended the debut of Spike’s documentary. The judge didn’t find it amusing.

Yeah, this guy should really be let anywhere near a movie set.

Peedi Peedi joining The Roots

Looks like Outkast is going to do somewhere around 190k. I wonder if those crackas at Jive will start playing fair now?

50 went and got himself sued again.

New X-Clan video. I have to say, they picked up right where they left off.

An update on the goings on at Duck Down Records from the boy Dru Ha. I think it’s disgraceful, yet not at all surprising, that The Last Stand has only moved 10,000 copies to date.

At first glance this seems like it’ll be really great. Then, as you read you start to see acronyms like WMA and DRM and it’s like  eh, whatever. Someone call me when music becomes free, as it should be.

Apparently the hipsters are having fun with that new T.I./Justin Timberlake song that’s been making the rounds. I never heard it in my life. It’s gotten to the point where somebody went and put the phrase "Atlantic Records for T.I. clearance," which was voiced over the original leaked mp3, on a shirt. Ha. The irony. I can think of a few slogans containing "Atlantic Records" that I’d like to put on a shirt.

So they’re seriously gonna let this guy release an album huh? Like, there’s actually a recording budget somewhere with his name on it. Don’t they know there are children out there starving for record deals?
