Is it me or does P look a little leery in that pic? I don’t know why, it’s not like he didn’t have the BIG homey with him. You can see more flicks of Mobb Deep’s little adventure into the streets and subways of NY over at whatspoppin.net. More at MTV also.

I can’t believe Im typing this: Here’s a new Ja Rule dis to 50 Cent, 21 Gun Salute.

Vintage Video: Tupac Freestyling In NYC

Friday, April 28th, 2006

It’s been a pretty wild week in the world of hip hop. Gravy gets shot in the ass, Snoop gets locked up in London, Turk is sentenced to 12 years, and Shyne got hit off with some dough. And that was just Thursday! So it kind of makes sense that today would be a bit of a slow news day, because honestly (*looks over his shoulder*) what else can possibly happen?

If you’re a regular visitor to this site then you already know that slow news day = old Tupac video. This is a 60 second clip of Pac in all his glory walking through the streets of New York with a 40 (remember when you used to be able to do that?) spitting a drunken freestyle. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Youtube is the best thing since electricity.

You Gotta Love It

You have to give it to Cam. Jay-Z ignores him so what does he do? What else, bring it back to high school on his ass and get at wifey:

"Cam has been text-messaging Beyoncé like crazy," our tipster says. "He’s been asking her out, and dissing Jay[-Z]. He’s been telling her she should be with a real man like him."

Yes, Cam’ron, who was linked with Mariah Carey, has cred on field and street: He was an All-American football player before becoming a drug dealer in his native Harlem. But few would say Jay-Z isn’t a "real man": He pulled himself up from Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses projects to become a platinum-selling rapper; he started Roc-A-Fella Records with Damon Dash, and now he’s Def Jam CEO and part owner of the New Jersey Nets.

I like how the Daily News doesn’t bother to research what sport Cam played in school, but they found time to catch the reference Cam made to them in his dis to Jay. "And I open the Daily News how is the king of New York rockin sandals with jeans?"

Down in Houston ask B I’m a Mack for real
Heck you tell me respect better dwell me
Beyonce, fiancé check my second LP (check my second album)
I might bring her back that’s your girl that’s your world
Had the thing fucking singing ’bout slinging crack (word)
Mr. Rocafella stop stop stop it fella (stop)
Still got her accapellas but I will Akinel-her
Puuut it in ya mouth—Puuut it in ya mouth

Brooklyn Rapper Gravy “Treached” Outside Hot97

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

gravy.jpg

Brooklyn rapper Gravy who, unless you live in NY or are a SMACK DVD aficionado, you’ve probably never heard of, was "Treached" (my Urban Dictionary entry is pending) last night outside the Hot 97 building. From the reports I’m reading about the incident, his fat ass kept it extra gully and still went upstairs to go through with his interview:

The 28-year-old MC (born Jamal Wollar) was struck by a single bullet as he got to the station around 9:30 p.m. Word is Gravy went to the station with an entourage of approximately 30 people sporting T-shirts with his moniker on it.

According to sources, while people began scattering upon shots being fired, Gravy kept his cool and walked upstairs to conduct his interview as scheduled.

Cops later sealed off the station, looking for victims. After finding Gravy hobbling inside the station, authorities asked the rapper what happened. Sources say he told cops he had fallen. Cops then noticed blood and Gravy was taken to St.VincentsHospital in stable condition.

Man, I went to sleep last night after posting the Snoop arrest story thinking I had the jump on today’s news cycle, and then I wake up and see this. Let this be a lesson to any of you kids thinking about getting into the hip hop blogging business, you have to stay on your grizzly, because you never know when a C-List rapper can wind up shot in the ass.

Stop Swagger Jackin’

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

stop-swagger-jackin.jpg

Since the whole Stop Snitchin’ t-shirt campaign worked out so well for its creators, Dipset affiliates Purple City plan to use a similar tactic against those pesky Swagger Jackers. Spotted via The Fader who I think summed it up pretty well:

We’re sort of busy mulling over the delicious irony that is PEOPLE SELLING THE T-SHIRTS THEY ARE WEARING THAT SPECIFICALLY TELL PEOPLE TO STOP WEARING WHAT THEY ARE WEARING.

Go ahead, cop one, you know you want to. Just don’t let Cam see you rocking it you biter.

Snoop Arrested At London Airport

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

snoop-soulplane.jpg

There seems to be a sharp increase in ‘When keeping it real goes wrong’ incidents in comparison with this same period last year. From Yahoo News UK:

Rapper Snoop Dogg has been arrested after a disturbance at Heathrow airport. The US star was detained by police when a row broke out after his 30-strong entourage were told they would not be able to board their flight. Initially they were refused entry to the British Airways first-class lounge at the airport’s Terminal 1.

Snoop’s party is to then said to have moved to a duty-free shop where it is alleged they threw bottles of whisky on the floor and argued with staff.

Police were called and were escorting the group away from the scene when a further disturbance broke out, Scotland Yard said.

Seven officers received minor injuries – mainly cuts and bruises – while one suffered a fracture to the hand.

Jay-Z, DMX, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss all in the same room together? Uh oh, do you think something’s gonna pop off? Of course not. This ain’t beef this is rap homey, and I ain’t got a scratch on me.

All sorts of Jay-Z album and Jeezy getting robbed rumors are floating around.

That whole 50 Cent Michael Jackson collabo thing may not be happening after all. That’s too bad. On another note, let this marinate for a minute. Oh and he loves you like a fat kid loves cake.

Judge blesses Shyne with 100,000 of his own money.

Proof’s killer waives a preliminary hearing and his lawyer claims he "was either given a gun or took a gun from someone." Meanwhile the family of the guy Proof killed, Keith Bender asks for peace on the streets of Detroit.

**Irony Alert** Deebo robbed at gunpoint. Yeah, that Deebo.

That chick Michelle Rodriguez, from Lost, must have had a nice tall glass of gully juice before she went to court for her DUI charge. Who chooses jail over community service? I knew there was something about her I liked.

Here’s a new joint from Cam, and I swear I’m not kidding this is the actual title: I Feel Like I’m Losing I’m feeling it (no homo). And if you’ve ever wondered what Cam would sound like singing, go here.

New Faboulous freestyle over Cam’s Wet Wipes beat.

Ok, Lupe let go of his hand and back away. This is not the type of guy you want to be seen around town with, trust me. It starts out with a simple handshake and next thing you know you’re singing hooks and rocking dress shirts with the sleeves cut off.
