Welcome to the new Milton-Madison Bridge Project Web site, a cooperative effort between the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The people of Milton, Kentucky and Madison, Indiana have long coped with the issue of the community’s aging, narrow US 421 bridge. The bridge was designed at a time when it was crossed by Model A Fords and tobacco wagons heading to market. Now, the 80-year-old span is functionally obsolete, unable to handle modern traffic. The project seeks to address the needs of Milton and Madison by developing a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation or replacement of the US 421 bridge with a single, affordable bridge that safely connects the two historic communities.
