    Picture taken September, 1912 in Philadelphia, PA. She was also photographed with Wyoming's just-elected governor, J.M. Casey and his wife and a relative of his. The large, riveted metal piece in the background is the battleship's prow.

    USS Wyoming (BB-32), the lead ship of her class of battleship was the third ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 44th state. Her keel was laid down on 9 February 1910, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by William Cramp and Sons. She was launched on 25 May 1911, sponsored by Miss Dorothy Eunice Knight, the daughter of former Chief Justice Jesse Knight of the Wyoming Supreme Court.

    The ship saw service in WWI and WWII, and was scrapped in 1947.

    New Castle, Pennsylvania News - April 28, 1911

    GROVE CITY GIRL TO NAME WARSHIP

    Grove City, Pa., April 28 - Miss Dorothy E. Knight of Cheyenne, Wyo., has been appointed by Governor James M. Carey of that state to christen the United States battleship Wyoming, which will be lanunched at the Cramp shipyard, Philadelphia, May 11.
    Miss Knight is a student at Grove City college an is a leader among the students in both in studies and in social life. She has traveled extensively abroad. Her family is well knon in her native state.

    (The newspaper got the date wrong. They published another article about her christening the ship on May 25.)
