      Picture was taken September, 1912 at the christening of the USS Wyoming in Philadelphia, PA. Note Dorothy Knight's identified picture here. The riveted metal shape is the boat's prow.

      J.M. Carey was a congressman and then governor of Wyoming, elected 1912 (see book reference here).

      USS Wyoming (BB-32), the lead ship of her class of battleship was the third ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 44th state. Her keel was laid down on 9 February 1910, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by William Cramp and Sons. She was launched on 25 May 1911, sponsored by Miss Dorothy Eunice Knight, the daughter of former Chief Justice Jesse Knight of the Wyoming Supreme Court.

      The ship saw service in WWI and WWII, and was scrapped in 1947.

      Joseph Maull Carey (January 19, 1845 – February 5, 1924) was a lawyer, rancher, judge, and politician, who spent most of his political career in Wyoming before and after it achieved statehood.
