H.R. 5877 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Monday, November 29, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) on July 27, 2010.

H.R. 5877 would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 655 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, as the “Lance Corporal Alexander Scott Arredondo, United States Marine Corps Post Office Building.”

 

Lance Corporal Arredondo, 20 years old, of Randolph, Massachusetts was killed on August 25, 2004 by a sniper in Najaf.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
