What: A 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles) fun run in Kent over a flat, fast course. The event is organized by Kent Parks and Recreation.
While the river fishing has been fair, that was before this latest storm hit the region. Anglers should check flows before they head out because many rivers have become very high. The Hoh River, for example, normally runs about 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) this time of year. Tuesday morning, flows were measured at 10,200 cfs.
Two Olympia men were among those honored recently by the State Parks and Recreation Commission Boating Program. The program honored law enforcement officers around the state, as well as department staffers, for outstanding performance and service.
A proposal to restructure salmon and sturgeon fisheries on the lower Columbia River would prioritize the recreational fisheries in the mainstem river and move commercial fisheries to off-channel areas.
If tests show razor clams are safe to eat, the next dig will open Dec. 11 at Twin Harbors and run through Dec. 16 at various beaches.

Checking out of a yurt recently at Oregon’s Fort Stevens State Park, a man noticed a sign announcing in bold green letters that it was “Discovery Season.”
The lowdown: It’s that time of the year again when you’re riding home in the dark on your bike commute. A rear light is important for safety.
