Tahlequah/Point Defiance afternoon ferry runs canceled today

The 1:40 p.m. ferry from Point Defiance and the 2:10 from Tahlequah were cancelled today “due to a lack of qualified crew,” according to the state Department of Transportation.

The next ferry will leave Point Defiance at 2:40 p.m. and Tahlequah at 3:10 p.m.

CLEARED: Two-car crash blocking lanes on southbound I-5 in Tacoma

UPDATE as of 8:08 a.m.: All lanes are clear but backups continue.

INITIAL POST: A crash involving a semi-truck and a car is blocking the two right lanes of southbound Interstate 5 near Tacoma mall Boulevard, the state Department of Transportation reports.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. at milepost 129.

Backups extend two miles to the state Route 16 interchange.

Highway 302 blocked

Blocking collision on SR 302 at Milepost 11.01 near KPN Hwy (Old SR 302). The roadway is fully blocked. Washington State Patrol and Emergency responders are on scene. Expect delays

Northbound I-5 reduced to single lane tonight between South 48th and M streets

Press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation:

TACOMA – Emergency pavement repair on northbound Interstate 5 between South 48th and M streets means overnight lane closures tonight, Thursday, Nov. 15.

Crews will reduce northbound I-5 to a single lane and divert all traffic onto the South 38th Street collector/distributor lanes at 9 p.m.

All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 16.

Chinook Pass closed for the season

Chinook Pass is closed for the season after heavy snowfall and debris slides from the recent storm, the state Department of Transportation reports.

The pass usually closes in mid-November. Officials will reassess the area in spring to determine when to reopen it.

The closure is from Morse Creek (five mile east of the summit) to the intersection of state Route 123 and state Route 410.

Accident backs up traffic in Lakewood

Traffic near Lakewood Towne Center is snarled by a traffic accident involving a car and a motorcycle.

Police have closed some streets near Bridgeport Way Southwest and Lakewood Towne Center Boulevard.

Reports are that traffic is barely moving, if at all.

More road closures in Nalley Valley this week

Several ramp and lane closures are planned this week as crews continue working on the Eastbound Nalley Valley project.

All lanes of eastbound Highway16 will be closed at Union Avenue on Monday night from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The southbound exit to South 38th Street from I-5 will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights (11 p.m. to 4 a.m.).

The Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound Highway 16 will be closed Monday night (9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.).

And the Sprague Avenue on-ramp to westbound Highway 16 will be closed Thursday night (11 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
