While the river fishing has been fair, that was before this latest storm hit the region. Anglers should check flows before they head out because many rivers have become very high. The Hoh River, for example, normally runs about 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) this time of year. Tuesday morning, flows were measured at 10,200 cfs.

Thanksgiving weekend can be a tough time to catch fish.
Two Lewis County ponds will open Friday, and they will be stocked with 2,000 rainbow trout each.

The second razor-clam dig of the season will get under way at four ocean beaches Saturday. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the dig after marine toxin tests confirmed the clams are safe to eat.

River anglers have their fingers crossed that the rain in the forecast will come to fruition.
No excuses for not fishing this weekend. Fish are biting in many locations “and the weather is definitely in their (anglers) favor,” said Bud Herlitzka of the Spanaway Park Boat House.
