Barnwell: QB woes will cripple Texans

Even if Houston makes the playoffs, don't expect them to go anywhere. It's nearly impossible to overcome Brock Osweiler's replacement-level quarterbacking, Bill Barnwell writes. Contender kryptonite

If the regular season ended today...

...the Texans would win the AFC South despite losing three straight. However, their once-comfortable lead is now down to tiebreakers, putting them in an awfully precarious position. Playoff picture

Yes, the Texans are (still) leading the AFC South, despite a minus-50 point differential. The other seven division leaders have an average point differential of plus-65.9. The last division winner to be outscored by that much: 2011 Denver Broncos (minus-81).

Packers get back to .500, beat Texans 21-13

Aaron Rodgers threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and the Green Bay Packers pulled away from the Houston Texans with two fourth-quarter touchdowns for a 21-13 win Sunday to get back to .500.

Despite a solid effort from their defense, the Texans dropped their third-straight game, losing 21-13 to the Packers. The defense held Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to one touchdown and 111 yards through three quarters, but could only keep the Texans in the game for so long. Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler finished 21-of-34 for 213 yards and two touchdowns, including a 44-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins in the final minutes of the game. Now the 6-6 Texans are tied atop the division with the Tennessee Titans and have a big game against the Colts next week.

WR DeAndre Hopkins has three targets but no catches. Three Texans running backs -- Lamar Miller, Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes -- have combined for 38 yards on 14 carries.

Off-schedule throw from Aaron Rodgers on the TD to Randall Cobb. Get outside of the pocket. Extend the play. That creates new throwing windows in the red zone. Packers up 7-0 on the Texans.

The snow is starting to accumulate on the field in the second quarter and the wind has picked up.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

After the first quarter, the Texans have shown they are committed to running the ball, especially in this snow. Brock Osweiler has thrown the ball six times for 15 yards and run three times for 20 yards.
