Verification System

  • You must provide proof of your identity in the body of your post when you submit your AMA
  • If your identity is absolutely confidential, you may message proof to the mods
  • If your post is suspected fake and you do not verify proof, it may be subject to removal

AMAs Should Focus On:

  • Something uncommon that plays a central role in your life -or-
  • A truly interesting and unique event (Ex: I climbed Mt. Everest)

AMAs Should NOT Be About:

  • Something previously posted multiple times, or common topics.
  • Your day, your girlfriend, being bored or drunk, your opinion on something, etc.
  • Stories about fetishes, abuse, addiction, relationships, sexual behaviors, religion, or psychiatric disorders are too common and generally unprovable, and should be posted in /r/MiniBio or /r/Self.
  • Most weight loss stories can be posted to /r/LoseIt.
  • Location-based AMAs go to /r/ILiveIn. If your location makes you witness to specific events, please include that in your title.
  • Need sympathy or support? Check out /r/Mmfb.
  • Average? Just want to talk? More common or casual AMAs can go to /r/CasualIAmA.

AMA Request Guidelines

  • You must come up with 5 questions that are specifically related to the topic. Those 5 questions cannot be general questions that anyone could answer, like "what's your favorite color?". Those five questions must be posted in the text of the post. If not, it will be removed.
  • Serious and Reasonable requests, no "AMA Request: God!" The best requests would have a reason to believe they would do it.
  • Search first! Duplicate requests will be subject to removal

General Rules/Info

  • Obvious nonsense will be removed - this is up to the discretion of the moderators.
  • Posts about your experiences on the internet are allowed if it can be objectively determined that the activity is a significant portion of your life, using factors such as income received, time devoted to it, uniqueness and level of creativity, and outside attention it gets. Also consider /r/InternetAMA.
  • Please don't submit a post unless you are prepared to answer questions as soon as they start coming in.
  • Asking for money for yourself will get you banned.
  • Comments using url shorteners will be removed.
  • Please don't submit an AMA just to "see if there's interest." Simply post the AMA and find out.
