Congressman Dan Lungren Congratulates Janice Rogers Brown

(Washington, DC)— Congressman Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) extends congratulations and best wishes to Justice Janice Rogers Brown on her confirmation today to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

The United State Senate confirmed Rogers by a vote of 56-43.

Congressman Lungren said, “Despite the use of selective extractions from Justice Brown’s opinions and speeches by her detractors, those who are actually familiar with her legal work have found her to be even-handed in her application of the law.”

“While serving as Attorney General of the state of California, I served on two state confirmation panels which unanimously confirmed her appointments to both the state appellate court and the California Supreme Court. The consensus conclusion was that she was ‘fair,’ ‘brilliant,’ and ‘collegial.’   It was clear to me that Justice Brown is a jurist with a first-rate mind and the ability to exercise judicial impartiality,” added Congressman Lungren.  “I am confident she will make an excellent addition to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.”
