Petraeus Sex Scandal Could Have Sunk Obama
November 13, 2012 – 3:52 pm EST | No Comment

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

More than a week before the election, an FBI whistleblower went to a Republican member of Congress with explosive details about a national security scandal that could have stopped President Obama’s re-election campaign dead in its tracks. But the potentially devastating “October Surprise” was hushed up by Republicans.

Although all the details are not yet available and new disclosures are coming every day, it appears that the scandal involves the CIA director leaking classified information to his mistress and the FBI not holding David Petraeus accountable for his immoral and illegal conduct. In short, it is the worst scandal of the Obama Administration and makes the third-rate burglary in the Watergate scandal look minor by comparison.

Despite the explosive nature of the allegations, two Republican members of Congress, Dave Reichert and Eric Cantor, decided to pass on the information to the FBI director and take no action themselves. They didn’t even inform their colleagues on the House Intelligence Committee or in the House leadership. It was a terrible mistake on their part that enabled Obama to escape the damaging repercussions of the scandal right before what many conservatives called the most important presidential election of our lifetimes.

Major news personalities now seem to be in a rush to play down the scandal even more. Suzanne Kelly, CNN’s Intelligence Correspondent based in Washington, D.C., said on Monday, “It is not illegal to have an affair,” in regard to Petraeus admitting one. The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer wrote, “Within the military, there are rules about adultery. But within civilian life, should there be?”

Retired Army Maj. Glenn MacDonald, editor-in-chief of MilitaryCorruption.com, told Accuracy in Media, “While Petraeus is a retired Army general and a civilian, most recently director of the CIA, he is still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). According to regulations, if an officer is drawing retired pay, they can be called back on active duty to face charges at court-martial. Since adultery is a crime in the military, it is possible, although unlikely, that General Petraeus could face legal action.”

He added, “If he was charged, my guess is he would pay a fine and perhaps be reduced in rank one grade. Barring a finding of treason or leaking secrets, it is my educated guess Petraeus would not do any jail time.”

The leaking of secrets, however, has now become the subject of several news reports, with claims of classified information on his mistress Paula Broadwell’s computer. Broadwell herself publicly gave information about the attack in Libya that appears to be classified. What’s more, The New York Times reports that FBI agents went to Broadwell’s home on Monday night “and were seen carrying away what several reporters at the scene said were boxes of documents.” The Washington Post reports that a senior law enforcement official said the agents were searching for any classified or sensitive documents that may have been in Broadwell’s possession.

Because of Cantor’s failure to go public, the scandal exploded only after the election, as Petraeus submitted his resignation as CIA director and Obama accepted it. “I would like to congratulate President Obama on his re-election,” Cantor had actually said on his blog, knowing that Obama’s administration was engaged in a massive cover-up. Only later did he acknowledge, in response to a New York Times report, that he had the information that could have derailed Obama’s presidential campaign and possibly given Mitt Romney the presidency.

Cantor, the House Majority Leader, had produced an 8,000-word report on October 23 assailing Obama for instituting an imperial presidency. He and his colleagues had been extremely critical of Obama’s management of U.S. foreign policy, suggesting that the war on terrorism had been badly mishandled and that the administration was covering up what really happened when four Americans were killed in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11. Petraeus was right in the middle of this scandal and was scheduled to testify before Congress about it.

It was in this context that a whistleblower approached Reichert and then Cantor with information about the FBI cover-up of the CIA director’s activities. The whistleblower undoubtedly thought that the Republicans would take the information and act on it, exposing the high-level cover-up before the presidential election. Instead, Cantor was content to let FBI Director Robert Mueller, who was re-appointed by Obama, handle the investigation.

But Cantor knew at that point, because of what the whistleblower had told him, that Mueller had not informed Congress about the probe and was failing to hold Petraeus accountable for his affair and the handling of the classified information. So turning the information over to Mueller was the equivalent of muzzling the whistleblower.

“On Saturday, Oct. 27, Cantor spoke by phone to an FBI employee who told him about an investigation, including the details about Petraeus’ affair, and said he was concerned that classified information had been compromised,” reported Jonathan Karl of ABC News. The FBI employee first contacted Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), who then put the employee in touch with Cantor, Karl added. Notice the reference to “details about Petraeus’ affair.”

The revelation of Republicans being in possession of advance detailed knowledge of the scandal was first disclosed by The New York Times, which reported, “…the F.B.I. agent who had helped get a preliminary inquiry started, and learned of Mr. Petraeus’s affair and the initial concerns about security breaches, became frustrated.” It is clear that that he went to Congress out of frustration with the failure of the FBI to go after Petraeus and his mistress.

Cantor’s official statement was, “I was contacted by an F.B.I. employee concerned that sensitive, classified information may have been compromised and made certain Director Mueller was aware of these serious allegations and the potential risk to our national security.” (Emphasis added)

The FBI, of course, was completely aware of these “serious allegations” all along. The FBI knew about the scandal but was not acting on it, which is why the whistleblower went to Reichert and Cantor in the first place.

By going to Mueller, Cantor put the FBI whistleblower’s career in jeopardy. This helps explain why the whistleblower is fast becoming the subject of various negative news reports about his personal life. He trusted the Republicans and they failed him.

Romney Did Not Lose
November 12, 2012 – 10:16 am EST | 28 Comments

By: Citizen Scribe

Over the last few days I have watched as political “analysts” and assorted pundits alternately lamented and rejoiced and “analyzed” the results of the recent election.

I have watched and listened as self-important, self-appointed authorities opined and pontificated on the “reasons” for Romney’s loss.

And, as I removed myself from the emotional turmoil that surrounds this event, and as I examined the actual data, I arrived at a conclusion at odds with all these “experts” and purveyors of “correct” viewpoint: Romney didn’t lose.

Oh, the election boards and Secretaries of State and other officials have “deemed” that Obama won the election, but the truth is rather otherwise.

What Obama won was the vote count. Remember the maxim from Josef Stalin: “It’s not the people who vote that count, it’s the people who count the votes.”

I predicted that the only way Romney would lose was through vote fraud. As the election returns are now being finalized, we discover that in several districts the final counts added up to more than 100% of the actual registered voters in those areas. The “traditional” Press is, of course, entirely uninterested and incurious about these results, as we would expect from a Fourth-Estate-as-Fifth-Column media community.

Okay, fine, we now know that the election results are fraudulent, and we likewise know that the authorities and media will never acknowledge that possibility. What we now have is an “election” outcome that’s “official” but not legal, “official” but not true, “official” but for which the actual evidence will be destroyed, or already has been.

There is, however, a truth that will only be buried if we allow it to be. Romney didn’t lose. Romney won the support of a significant majority of Americans. The pretender in the White House knows this, his aides know this, and the people who mechanized this outcome know this. Oh, and the Press either knows it or suspects it, and is now deep enough into it that exposing it would mean revealing their own collusion and perfidy.

The reality, though, remains: the real, true majority of Americans did not ask for this outcome, did not support this result, and actually desire something very different from the plans they know this false president has for the nation.

Here is how it’s supposed to work: you know that you voted for Romney (or against Obama), but now you’re supposed to believe that “everybody else” wanted Obama. The “overwhelming majority” of people want Obama, want his policies, and want you to suffer. That’s what the Press will tell you, that’s what the authorities will tell you, that’s what the “official” version will be.

You are now supposed to “accept” your fate. You are now supposed to sit down and shut up. You are now supposed to “accept” the so-called “will of the people.” That’s what you’re supposed to do.

YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO GIVE UP. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO SUCCUMB. You’re SUPPOSED to stop fighting, stop resisting, stop speaking out.

Well?

Yeah, okay, I can’t prove any of that. I don’t have any evidence that supports it. What I DO have is an analytic mind and a series of observations that inform me that the “result” we got is not supported by the events leading up to it.

So what I know and what I can prove are at odds. But there are times when you have to act on what you know, even when you’re being falsely told that what you know is wrong.

I’m still formulating how I need to proceed in light of this new understanding, but what I know, and what I need to factor into my future calculations is the fact that we — the people who love our country and favor fiscal sanity and subscribe to the ideals of the Founders — are not outnumbered. We remain in the majority.

I can’t remember ever having been here. I grew up in the ’60s, but served in the military rather than in Haight-Ashbury. I raised my family to be responsible and self-sufficient, just as my parents did. I guess you could say I was more or less aligned with the “establishment” of the day, even though I have for years disagreed with the trend toward more socialism and fascism.

Today, the Establishment has crossed a line. They have arrayed themselves against the majority of the American people.

I won’t be joining them. I won’t be agreeing with them. I won’t be accepting their “truth.” I will, instead, stand for my truth. And I suspect I am not alone.

The usurpers (for I can’t reasonably refer to them otherwise) are now the “establishment” even though they are really in the minority.

So… that makes us… what?

Well, what do you call someone who stands against the Establishment?

Feels kinda odd to be in those shoes, doesn’t it?

Welcome to the Resistance.

The Fog of Misdirection

A week after three Syrian tanks moved into the Golan Heights where they stayed for several hours before leaving, a mortar shell struck the Golan Heights this morning fired from Syria. There were no injuries and Israel retaliated with warning shots into Syria. Syria is testing Israel’s resolve to hold on to the Golan Heights, taken in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. This is being touted by the MSM as the first direct conflict since a cease fire in 1974. Technically, Syria and Israel have never ceased being at war. It has been quiet since the ceasefire, but make no mistake… Syria wants that land back and if they get it, it will be the end of Israel. Israel cannot afford to give it up – their survival depends on it. However, saying this is the first direct conflict since 1973 is not exactly correct. Remember, in 2008, Israel took out Syria’s nuclear facilities in “Operation Orchard” and rightly so. They delayed an oncoming firestorm by taking it out.

From the Jerusalem Post:

Israel limited its return fire, since its policy is to only fire intensively in response to coming under major Syrian fire. “We didn’t continue firing because this was one mortar we were responding to,” the source said.

“We will not accept any firing into our territory,” he added. “This was a signal to the Syrians, that we will not be so forgiving of everything that lands in a territory.” The source stressed that as of now, Israel and Syria were not a in a conflict situation.

The IDF is currently on standby for a security deterioration on both the northern front and the border with Gaza.

After the incident this morning, Israel filed a complaint with the UN, who promptly ignored them and did nothing. The UN is populated by radical Islamists, so this is no surprise. Israel is now totally surrounded by the enemy and America just reelected a President who hates Israel. They can no longer depend on America as an ally. Once again, as seen throughout history, Israel stands alone, but not entirely. They have God at their side, which is worth more than any other ally. Meanwhile, Barack Obama is aiding and abetting our enemies, getting our soldiers, ambassadors and personnel killed; all the while pushing Taqiyya and going to massive lengths not to offend the Muslim world and paying homage to the Mullahs of Iran. He is the ultimate enemy from within and made America a Marxist offer they evidently couldn’t refuse.

From Reuters:

In a statement, the Israeli military said soldiers had “fired warning shots towards Syrian areas”.

“The IDF (Israel Defence Force) has filed a complaint through the UN forces operating in the area, stating that fire emanating from Syria into Israel will not be tolerated and shall be responded to with severity,” the statement said.

There was no immediate comment from the 1,000-man United Nations Disengagement Observer Force which patrols the area.

Turkey, Jordon and Lebanon have all had similar run-ins with Syria on their borders as of late. Turkey has retaliated. Meanwhile, the rebels in Syria (who are populated by the Muslim Brotherhood, Obama’s new best buds) are begging for more help from the US. While America cannot see fit to help their closest ally Israel, they seem to be helping the rebels with arms and intel. This feeds into the furthering of a worldwide caliphate and eliminating Israel. All of the violence in Syria will eventually lead to a war with Israel, which may have been the not-so-subtle plan all along. The Islamic world is more than willing to slaughter their own (36,000 dead in Syria so far) to further planetary conquest. At some point they will combine forces and go after tiny Israel. And the Russians will stand in the background with the Iranians rubbing their bloody hands, chuckling with evil glee. Barack Obama will be the ultimate pawn on a geographic chessboard populated by dictators, evil Mullahs and corrupt politicians, moving towards a hellish checkmate for the soul of humanity. Well done America. Well done.

It is hard to discern if Israel can see all this unfolding… I believe they do, although they protest to the contrary, outwardly hoping for Assad’s fall and saying they don’t believe Syria means them harm. Syria has ALWAYS meant them harm, so I take this diplomatic fluff as simply deflection while they continue to prepare for the war they now know is unavoidable.

From the AP:

On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet that Israel is “closely monitoring” the border with Syria and is “ready for any development.”

Earlier, Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned, “If a shell falls, we will respond.”

Israel fears that if Assad’s regime is toppled, the country could fall into the hands of Islamic extremists or descend into sectarian warfare, destabilizing the region.

It also is afraid that Syria’s arsenal of chemical weapons and missile could fall into the hands of its Lebanese ally, the Hezbollah guerrilla group, or other anti-Israel militants if Assad loses power.

The aftermath of Egypt’s revolution has also provided Israel with reason to worry about its frontier region with Syria: Egypt’s Sinai desert on Israel’s southern border has turned even more lawless since longtime Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was ousted in February 2011, and Islamic militants are now more easily able to use it as a launching ground for strikes against southern Israel.

When Conservatives lost the presidential election this week to a committed Marxist and a close friend of Jihadists, I not only mourned for America and all she has fought for… I mourned for Israel, God’s chosen children. Those that turn their backs on Israel, turn their backs on God. May He have mercy on the United States, but I’m beginning to doubt that and now I understand why we are not mentioned in end times eschatology.

While Islamic foes poke the Israeli badger, hoping for a violent response to provide them cover to attack, the Israelis are showing their nerves of steel in a complex battle that has implications for all of us. The Syrian conflict is the perfect excuse to attack Israel in a series of battle forays. Forget about the fog of war, the radical Islamists are practicing the fog of misdirection. Let’s hope that fog is not cleared with a nuclear detonation.

Obama Locks Up 1.6 Million Acres From Oil Development
November 10, 2012 – 8:59 pm EST | 2 Comments

By: Andrea Shea King
The Radio Patriot

During our national Rebuild America-Defeat Obama tour, New Zealand researcher Trevor Loudon joined us for three days, and spoke at six rallies about the REAL reason Obama’s killing our economy with regulations, taxes, Obamacare, and policies that paralyze us. Obama is weakening our economy as an excuse to cut our defense budget and weaken our military (national defense) against the Russians, Chinese, Islamists, Communists.

“Obama is doing these things so we cannot defend ourselves when war breaks out and we need to use our own fuel supplies .

This ….and Giving Genl. Petraeus the Dominique Strauss Kahn treatment so we no longer have our most effective commander in power…This is all the Putin ” flexibility ” Obama was promising him after the election. Obama now mutating into the seasoned Adolph Hitler walking around in his brown leather bomber jacket and swagger stick. War is coming.” — Comment left at The GatewayPundit post below:

Do you remember during the first presidential debate this year when Obama lied about his record on oil permits and leases?

It’s just too bad the media never followed up on this and pointed out Obama’s horrible lies.

** The fact is that oil and gas leases, acres, and permits were all down under Obama.

And Obama is already locking up more federal land from oil development.
Human Events reported:

The Obama administration announced Friday it will put a large swath of western lands –1.6 million acres — off limits to oil shale and oil sands leases that hold the potential to develop more than a trillion barrels of oil.

The plan still allows for the development of nearly 700,000 acres in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, but one key House Republican criticized the plan for limiting exploration that would further lead to energy independence.

“Allowing safe and responsible energy development on federal lands is a critical step toward reducing our dependence on Middle East oil, but rather than embrace our country’s resources, the president is designating even more federal areas as off-limits,” said Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.), chairman of the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on energy and power.

“This is after we saw oil production on federal lands decline by an average of 275,000 barrels per day in fiscal year 2011. While other countries like Canada are busy growing their economy by developing their own resources, this administration is busy promoting policies that embargo our own oil from ourselves,” Whitfield said.

The Liberal Media Are More Powerful Than Ever
November 9, 2012 – 5:12 pm EST | 3 Comments

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

Writing before Obama won the election, Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel of the Daily Caller contended that bias, dishonesty, and corruption were helping to undermine and destroy the liberal media. “The broadcast networks, the big daily newspapers, the newsweeklies—they’re done,” they said. “It’s only a matter of time, and everyone who works there knows it.”

Unfortunately, there is no evidence this is the case. Although liberal news outlets are losing viewers and readers, Obama’s victory has invigorated these news organizations and given them a new lease on life. They are more powerful than ever because they correctly predicted the race. They understood the nature of the electorate and how it had shifted in Obama’s favor. What they have achieved is something that the conservative media were striving for—a measure of credibility. It came not through their reporting, of course, but through their emphasis on polls and an understanding of how a progressive infrastructure, financed largely by George Soros, has assumed great importance for the Democratic Party machine.

Many in the liberal media are gloating that so many Fox News commentators were proven wrong in their predictions of a Romney victory. Not surprisingly, the conservative predictions of a Romney victory were mocked on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show.

By contrast, Nate Silver of The New York Times, one of the nation’s most prominent liberal outlets, has achieved enormous credibility, having correctly predicted Obama’s victory and the outcome in 50 out of 50 states. USA Today noted, “Silver had been under fire from Republicans for consistently putting Obama’s chance of winning in a range of 60-90 percent.” The FiveThirtyEight blogger turned out to be correct.

Bret Baier used his “Winners & Losers” segment on the Fox News Channel Special Report program to acknowledge that liberal or Democratic-leaning surveys and polls came out on top in predicting this year’s presidential election. He noted that a Fordham University study “credits the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) as the most accurate of the survey companies this year.” PPP also does a poll in partnership with the Daily Kos and the Services Employees International Union (SEIU), and it was second.

Rasmussen, one of the favorite polls of conservatives, was near the bottom of the list of the 28 polling organizations. Rasmussen had Romney leading Obama 49-48 percent on Election Day.

University of Colorado political science professors Kenneth Bickers and Michael Berry, who appeared on Fox News and talk radio, had projected an Electoral College landslide for Mitt Romney based on a model using economic factors such as unemployment data and changes in personal income. On the Fox Business website, Gerri Willis cited the prediction, noting that “Obama faces the headwinds of history. No President since FDR has been re-elected when unemployment is above 8 percent.” How many times did we hear that statistic mentioned in the context of the belief that Romney was destined to win?

“The model was wrong,” Bickers is now quoted as saying. Eric Gorski of the Denver Post reported, “Bickers said the Obama campaign managed to neutralize Romney’s ‘strengths on economic stewardship’—exit polls showed voters held similar views on each candidate’s ability to steer the economy—in part by shifting attention to issues such as immigration and women’s reproductive rights that play to Obama’s strengths.”

None of this negates the fact that Carlson and Patel were correct in their analysis of liberal media bias. They wrote, “Not in our lifetimes have so many in the press dropped the pretense of objectivity in order to help a political candidate. The media are rooting for Barack Obama. They’re not hiding it.” They went on to say that “many in the press are every bit as corrupt as conservatives have accused them of being,” but added, “The good news is, it’s almost over.”

It’s not over. Conservative use of flawed polling data has played into the hands of the liberal media. In order to recapture credibility in covering politics, the conservative media will have to acknowledge not only the bias on the other side, but the bias on their own.

A good start was made by Breitbart’s John Nolte, who wrote: “Mea culpa. We were dead wrong about the polls. Not only did the Real Clear Politics poll of polls end up being almost perfectly precise, but the most accurate pollster of the 2012 election cycle ended up being the Daily Kos’ Public Policy Polling (PPP). My guys, Gallup and Rasmussen, didn’t even make the top twenty.”

Real Clear Politics, an aggregator of polls, had Obama winning by 2.5 percent. The actual results were Obama 50.8 and Romney 48.3.
