From Washington Post on May 1, 1911, page 1.
A fire swept through Bangor, Maine, destroying "one third of the city" on April 30, 1911.
Presumably the photo is within a few days after.

According to the 1882 Bangor City directory, there was a "Charles H Fifield, sign and carriage painter at 14 York St. This might be his shop shown (note the sign in the background).
*oh, and Eric in SF, my grandfather was born in Bangor too.
