Food Stamp Presidency

Under President Obama, the number of Americans relying on federal food assistance has reached an all-time high. According to the USDA’s most recent data, in October 2011 46.2 million people—or 15 percent of the U.S. population—received low-income food benefits. As the following graphic shows, the average number of Americans receiving food stamps annually under President Obama is 68 percent higher than under either presidents Clinton or George W. Bush.
