Biggert to be Sworn in 112th Congress on January 5th

WHO:
- U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th)
- House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH-8th)
- Members of Biggert’s immediate family

WHAT:
Biggert will be sworn in the 112th Congress for her seventh term in federal office on Wednesday afternoon, January 5th, by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).  Speaker Boehner will conduct an individual ceremonial swearing-in for Rep. Biggert following the en masse oath of office on the floor of the House of Representatives.

WHEN:
Wednesday, January 5th at approximately 2:40 p.m. EST

WHERE:
H-207, The Rayburn Room
U.S. Capitol
Washington, D.C.

WHY:
Joined by her husband, children, and grandchildren, Biggert will renew her oath of office as Representative of the 13th Congressional District of Illinois.  During the 2011-2012 period, Biggert is expected to serve on the House Committees on Education and the Workforce; Science, Space, and Technology; and Financial Services.  She also has been selected to serve as Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity.

“This is a critical time in American history, and I am eager to get back to work, fighting for the priorities of families and small businesses in my district,” said Biggert.  “As a member of the 112th Congress, my top priorities will continue to be job creation and putting a stop to out-of-control spending in Washington.  With Congress under divided control, implementing a new agenda and providing effective oversight won’t be easy tasks, but I am up to the challenge and ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get the job done.”
