  1. I’ve had the chance to meet with many of the new Members of Congress and they strike me as pragmatic and very reasonable, something we need more of in Washington. Whether the 113th Congress succeeds or fails is going to be based on bipartisanship and compromise. I'm committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to create good paying jobs and get our economy moving again.

    • Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!

    • Representative kind: I heard about a whole family of elephants being slaughtered today in Africa. I cannot believe there really are people who would do this despicable act! For money. Please if u would, help put pressure on the countries like Vietnam, China, & The Philippines to name a few, to stop this deplorable act. I believe rhinos are also threatened. Will u keep people informed of future positive steps taken to counter this slaughter. Thank you.

  3. These short-term fixes cannot sustain us. Every bipartisan commission agrees, we need additional revenue but we also need major spending reforms to reach a long-term solution to our deficit challenges. Check out my interview on Fox Business today.
  4. In this new year, I’m calling on my colleagues in the House to pass the American Taxpayer Relief Act. It may not be a perfect process or a perfect bill but it continues tax relief to 98% of Americans and small businesses while avoiding damage to our economic recovery. There's still a lot to do but this bill is a step in the right direction. http://www.wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=286716
  5. Without action by Jan 1, we'll revert back to the outdated agriculture policies of 1949 - which would cost taxpayers as much as $15 billion, increase dairy prices for consumers and businesses and wreak havoc on the industry. We've had more than enough time to take up the Senate passed bill - it's time to pass a food and farm bill that works for the 21st century.
