Acaro: Exclusive Tour Diary, Part One

Posted by Chris Harris on December 6, 2012 in Exclusive, Featured, Rad

Acaro

We’ve been supporters of Acaro since our humble beginnings and the band’s been similarly supportive of this site in the past. That is why we are psyched to be able to bring you the first installment in the band’s tour diary, written by Chris Harrell. Of course, Acaro are currently on the road with Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage on a must-see tour that runs through the end of this month.

So to start this adventure out, we drove straight through from Boston to Gallup, New Mexico; from early Monday morning after playing a Boston show to Thanksgiving Thursday to meet up with the Shadows Fall fellers, who were kind enough to get us added to that date.

Along the way, our home away from home (we have dubbed her The Mayflower) had an alternator problem in Effingham, Illinois. The Metal Gods were definitely with us that day, for low and behold, the manager at Autozone was indeed a METALHEAD! He helped us out tremendously and won’t be forgotten!

Many miles later, we have arrived in sunny California for the California Metalfest, which was a very long, yet super fun day! With the exception of set times changing a lot, I thought the fest went very smoothly and we were able to pull quite a decent amount of people to our stage to watch a band they had never heard of before (haha); which by the way has been the overall theme of the tour so far for your boys in Acaro, which we have fully embraced. No one knows who we are yet, so that is our rallying cry: “WHO THE FUCK IS ACARO?”

Slash Claims Scott Weiland Was Fired By Stone Temple Pilots

Posted by Chris Harris on December 8, 2012 in Huh?, News

Scott Weiland

Scott Weiland seems to be open to reuniting with Velvet Revolver.

That is because he was recently shit-canned by Stone Temple Pilots, according to Slash.

Slash was giving an interview to the Minneapolis/St. Paul radio station 93X earlier today, Blabbermouth claims, and said Scott “got fired from STP.”

Says Slash: “I think, all things considered, because these things always catch me by surprise, too, because I only find out about it through the media. I’m on the road in another country and I start hearing all this stuff, so I inquire within, and that’s what I was told.”

Weiland told Rolling Stone not that long ago he would be down to reunite with Velvet Revolver, even though no one needs that.

“I am completely open to it, and I know there are other guys in the band that are completely open to it,” he said.

U.S. State Department Responds To Petition Seeking Intervention In Randy Blythe Case

Posted by Chris Harris on December 8, 2012 in Featured, News

Randy in court in Prague this summer

Michael Posner, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, has responded to the launchers of a petition, seeking government intervention in Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe’s manslaughter case.

That statement follows. The petition was created by a Lamb of God fan from Brandenburg, Kentucky, in an online forum on the White House Web site.

“We appreciate your inquiry about the case of D. Randall Blythe, who was released from detention in the Czech Republic on August 3, 2012, and returned to the United States shortly thereafter,” says Posner’s statement.

“Mr. Blythe has publicly stated his intention to return to the Czech Republic to face trial for the alleged manslaughter of a Czech man at a concert in 2010. He recently told MTV, ‘It’s the correct thing for me to do … this poor young man’s family deserves some answers.’ Pending Mr. Blythe’s trial, we cannot discuss the details of his case. We are closely monitoring the progress of his trial.”

Vision Of Disorder Add To Shows For 2013

Posted by Chris Harris on December 7, 2012 in News, Rad, Tour Dates

Vision of Disorder

I usually never compile a best of list towards the end of the year, because I truly find it impossible (most years, anyways) to narrow things down to just ten great examples of awesome.

But if I were to make a list this year, Vision of Disorder’s new album The Cursed Remain Cursed would certainly rank somewhere in my top five — along with the new Deftones, the Sylosis record, Neurosis, the new Testament, Nachtmystium’s record and Revocation’s EP. The new Devin Townsend stuff. It’s too hard, man. Dying Fetus released a new record, too.

There were too many solid releases this year; I’d have to say I listened to more awesome shit in 2012 than I did in 2011.

I base “favorite” status on the amount of listens, when it comes to music.

I listened to the new V.O.D. record a lot. The band just added to new shows to its 2013 schedule.

Finntroll

And I am sure it will be epic.

Yes, folks — Finntroll has officially started recording their sixth album at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, a press release claims.

The currently untitled follow-up to 2010′s masterpiece Nifelvind will be released worldwide through Century Media Records in late March 2013.

“Combining our trademark sound with even more influences from non- traditional genres in metal music, we have created 11 songs which show you everything we want to offer,” offers the band.

“And boy, wasn’t that one of the hardest tasks for some time. After all, how do you keep your sound fresh, yet familiar, after 6 albums and 15 years?

Video: Vince Neil Swings At Fan, Totally Misses

Posted by Chris Harris on December 7, 2012 in News, Video

Vince with his pal Flava Flav

Perhaps he was all bent out of shape after seeing our latest story about his reality show with the shitty premise? Probably not.

Either way, this much is clear: We could all kick Vince Neil’s Motley ass.

The lead singer of the Crue was performing a solo show recently in New Mexico, and didn’t like some dude taking video of his performance. See video of Vince’s on-stage, beer muscles-bound bad-assedness at the end of this post.

He unleashed a closed-fist swing at the front row concert-goer. I think Stephen Hawking could have dodge that fist-toss.

I mean, I guarantee you my grandfather swings harder and quicker than that. Vince must have been sauced up.

Phil Labonte Doesn’t Give A Fuck What You Think

Posted by Chris Harris on December 7, 2012 in News

Phil Labonte

That’s right, people. Phil Labonte of All That Remains could give a fuck what you think about him.

Case in point: Last year, he called Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack a “faggot.” Who cares if that word offends you!

While people have largely forgotten the newly-married frontman’s homophobic tirade, Revolver sure didn’t and had the chance to chat with Phil and asked him about the incident.

“I don’t worry about what people think about me,” Phil responded.

“I’ll call everyone in my band a faggot and some people who read that get really butt-hurt. I just don’t know why. What happened to, ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me?’ I don’t advocate hurting someone’s feelings because of their sexual orientation, but at the same time, if it really offends you when someone says ‘faggot’ you need to man up. It’s just a word.”

For the most part, I tend to agree with Phil. Maybe that’s because I’m straight. But I do know that words can be hurtful. My words seem to get people worked up all the time (I have called Biersack “Andy Ballsack” before), and I do know that folks get hyper-pissed when you use the word “retarded” to describe something.

New Centurian Scheduled For January Release

Posted by Chris Harris on December 7, 2012 in New Records, News

Centurian

Reunited Dutch death metal outfit Centurian have a new album coming.

I know a few dudes who’re going to be psyched for this.

Contra Rationem will drop January 28 on Listenable Records, according to Blabbermouth.

The CD was recorded at the We Are (Music) Junkies studio in Eindhoven with producer/sound engineer Jo Peeters and Ralph Timmermans.

The album “is an adversive record in the broadest sense of the word. It lacks all the ethics of contemporary productions,” says guitarist Rob Oorthuis.
