Neither India nor West Indies could claim to have the advantage after a dramatic second day of the first Test in Delhi which saw 17 wickets fall. The visitors lost their last five first-innings wickets for 48 runs to be all out for 304 but India folded for 209. The West Indies lost openers Kieran Powell for a duck and Kraigg Brathwaite (2) to finish the day at 21 for 2, 116 runs ahead.

England's next Test opponents, Pakistan, claimed a 1-0 series win over Sri Lanka in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, yesterday after the third and final Test match ended in a draw. When play got under way after rain, Sri Lanka quickly declared on 181 for 6. Hosts Pakistan, chasing an unlikely 255 to win from 61 overs, cautiously reached 87 for 4 before fading light ended the match.
