WHEN:
11:00 a.m. Central Time, Saturday, May 7th, 2011

WHERE:
HinsdalePublic Library
20 East Maple Street

WHY:
Congresswoman Biggert will recognize three area high school students at an award ceremony for the winners of this year’s Congressional art competition.  Since its launch in 1982, the national contest has showcased the talent of more than 650,000 student artists.  This year, Rep. Biggert received more entries than ever before, with participation from seven high schools in the 13th Congressional District.

Each year, a new group of local judges selects the winners based solely on the art – without any knowledge of the names or schools of the students.  Rep. Biggert is pleased to display the art work of the first place winner in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol, as part of a national exhibit highlighting the artistic creativity of students from across the country.  The first place winner also will receive two round-trip Southwest airline tickets to Washington D.C. to be recognized with other young artists.  The second place winner’s artwork will be displayed in Rep. Biggert’s Washington, D.C. office, and the third place winner’s artwork will be displayed in her district office in Willowbrook.

The Hinsdale Public Library invites the public to view all the entries, which will be on exhibit at the library starting Tuesday, May 3rd through the close of the award ceremony on Saturday, May 7th.  The Hinsdale Public Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
