NEUGEBAUER STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF THE PATH TO PROSPERITY BUDGET FOR FY2013

WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Path to Prosperity budget for FY 2013. Rep. Neugebauer voted in favor of this budget, which would cut spending by $5.3 trillion more than the President’s budget over the next decade.

“Our government, and our country, is currently facing two different paths. Path number one leads to bigger government, more spending and a culture of entitlement in which the government is involved in every aspect of Americans’ lives. Path number two leads us to lower spending levels, a fairer tax code, common-sense reform to Medicare and other entitlements and to a sustainable future that is not burdened with debt.

“Today, I voted for the second path. While the Path to Prosperity budget is only a starting place, and more serious cuts will need to take place in the future, it moves us in the right direction. I believe we can reverse this spending binge and shrink the size of the federal government.”
