Library of Congress newspaper holdings are available from the Library of Congress Catalog.
If you find yourself viewing raw MARC catalog records (with numbered
fields), please note the following:
- The 362 field gives the dates a newspaper was in publication,
NOT the holdings of the Library of Congress.
- If the 050 field has a number like 7256X, it usually means we
have only a few loose issues of the title. The X means the
paper is stored a large paper folder known as a portfolio. Portfolios
usually contain only a few single issues.
