Rehberg Maintains Opposition to Debt Limit Increase

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today maintained opposition to increasing the statutory debt limit by another $2.4 trillion.  The measure would be the sixth time the debt limit was increased to fund federal over-spending since 2008.

“Over the last four years, Washington has borrowed trillions of dollars to promote the urban priorities of big city interest groups while ignoring the simple but vital needs of Montana’s working families.  The people of Montana are serious about getting federal spending under control, and so am I.  Our children deserve a future free of crushing debt and taxes, and while I’ve led by example, the big spenders in Washington refuse to accept that their spending party is over.  They talk about balancing the budget while defending every bloated dime of government spending and refusing to offer alternative plans.  The debt limit is a line in the sand.  It’s past time for bold leadership and fact-based budgeting that will unleash America’s amazing potential.”
