Ribble Votes to Hold Attorney General in Contempt of Congress

Jun 28, 2012 Issues: National Security

Washington, D.C. – Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) released the following statement on his vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his refusal to hand over key documents to Congress.

“This is a sad day for our nation, but the Attorney General has repeatedly refused to provide key documents surrounding misleading statements given to Congress and he must be held accountable. Attorney General Holder had numerous opportunities to cooperate, yet he repeatedly ignored subpoenas for key documents to resolve how and why Congress was given misleading information. Innocent lives were lost in the government-directed program and there are still a lot of questions that need answers. The Attorney General’s cooperation is necessary not only to ensure failed operations like this never happen again, but to also hold the rule of law in place so that the families who lost their loved ones can finally get the closure they need and deserve.”
