Planning and Project Management

The Planning and Project Management (PPM) organization manages AOC’s capital planning and improvement efforts, provides architectural and engineering design and expertise and executes project and construction management and in-house construction services. PPM is comprised of six divisions: Project Management, Design Services, Technical Support, Facilities Planning and Programming, Construction, and the Energy and Sustainability Office.

PPM is responsible for Facility Condition Assessments, the Five-Year Capital Improvements Plan, the Capitol Complex Master Plan and other long-term planning and prioritization tools for AOC.  PPM's Construction Division provides in-house construction and facility management support for urgent, minor construction needs. The Construction Division is comprised of experts in numerous skilled trades including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters and mechanics.

A member of PPM team, the AOC Historic Preservation Officer plays a key role in ensuring the historic and iconic buildings and grounds of Congress and the Supreme Court historic are maintained and enriched for present and future generations. This includes documenting and researching to evaluate the history of every building and providing guidance and advice to engineers and architects working to serve the modern needs of the building occupants while preserving the national treasures.
