Louisiana Lawmaker Recognized for Supporting America’s Job Creators

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today was awarded the “Spirit of Enterprise” award by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for his steady support of pro-jobs, pro-growth policies during the first session of the 112th Congress.

"I appreciate this honor and pledge to continue voting for the best interests of business and American workers," said Alexander. "I've always said that for businesses to survive and for jobs to increase, Members of Congress have to vote against the dangers of over taxation, over regulation and over litigation."

According to the U.S. Chamber, this honor is given annually to Members of Congress based on key issues defined in its annual publication, How They Voted. Among the critical votes counted by the Chamber in 2011 was the repeal of the 1099 reporting requirements, the three percent withholding from contractors, and the health care law. Also scored were votes concerning the surface transportation extension and free trade agreements, including South Korea and Columbia.

“Faced with difficult choices and high-stakes politics, these men and women provided America’s business community with a strong voice in Congress,” said Thomas Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “We honor these members today for having consistently demonstrated their support for America’s job creators.

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, represents the 5th Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
