Alexander Announces HUD Funding for the City of Alexandria

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will provide $177,284 to the City of Alexandria through the 2009 Recovery Act Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Formula Program awards.
The CDBG programs enables local governments to undertake a wide range of activities intended to create suitable living environments, provide decent affordable housing and create economic opportunities, primarily for persons of low and moderate income.
“I am glad these funds will be used to address Alexandria’s critical housing needs,” said Alexander. “Affordable housing is one of our most basic necessities, and this grant will certainly help our residents overcome this hardship.
