(Washington, DC)  – Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a grant is being awarded to the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission in the amount of $5,831,000.00:

“This grant will be used to improve the runway safety area for the Lafayette Regional Airport. As air traffic increases to South Louisiana, it is imperative the region have an airport with a stellar record for safety and efficiency. I am proud to see the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission taking the necessary steps to keep traveler safety at the forefront of improvements.”
