Dr. Burgess released the following statement after Health and Human Services issued the proposed rule to implement provisions of the Affordable Care Act related to health insurance market reforms:

"Two weeks following the 2012 election, the Obama administration has released over three hundred pages of proposed regulations in an attempt to provide further details concerning implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The proposed rules focus on insurance market reforms, including the establishment of standards for state benchmark plans, and methods of calculating the actuarial value of health insurance plans. The proposed rules are ambiguous and complicated. For example, Secretary Sebelius proposes that an essential health benefits benchmark plan must “reflect an appropriate balance among all essential health benefits categories”, without further defining ‘appropriate’. Furthermore, the administration continues to neglect to provide a clear definition of the ten categories of essential health benefits required to be covered in a benchmark plan. Such regulations will only further burden states, small businesses, and providers with a complexity of rules to follow, obstructing their flexibility to provide patient’s effective and appropriate health care. The nation requires leadership from Secretary Sebelius and President Obama to see the path forward for the health care system, not more rules restricting individuals’ freedom and growth of the health care industry."

Well, If he stops trying to please everyone/ or playing King...The Golden rule is Free Enterprise!!!! Is the best as it is competitive. It was for my understanding regarding Primatene Mist ban....it really never should of happen, because it clearly outlined exempt status for Medical reasons. So back to FREE ENTERPRISE is this is destroyed then so is the USA! Thank you again for all you are doing and the effort you are undertaking to help get this very arrogant choice by the EPA & FDA & the others who sold out!!!! Long live USA!!! out with tyranny! I have been using PM for over 40 years and have no ill side effects and in fact has saved my life so many times that I can't the numbers. Thank you for all your doing to get this ban lifted. PS The EPA should ban all cars and refrigerators that still use CFC and God only knows what else. My point is very clear, these guys are just going down a list of targets and flipping a coin on banning a product and I am sure there are KICKBACKS!!! there is no doubt! They are not professional and should be found out, and punished by the courts...jail-time. One more note any lawyers out there willing to sue the EPA on myself and all the others who now suffer because of this ban please contact me. Thank you again, Congressman Michael C.Burgess

America clearly spoke on 06Nov...we want and need affordable (universal) healthcare and congress should work toward expanding the AHCA ...In my opinion, the GOP has lost touch with the people and if there is not a change in direction, there will be more election outcomes like this to come...Preception is everything... and it seems to me that the GOP would still allow the country to suffer if they could "disable" the President...Lets have Medicare for everyone and pay for it with a small tax on pretty much everything so that everybody would pay and nobody gets a free ride....There has to be a way...We elected you guys to figure it out, not to fight each other...Thank you...

If Congress is for the people and BY THE PEOPLE, why are you letting everything our forefathers fought for become Europeanized? Europe is a mess. I have been there and heard the common man's views of health care. It is the poorest of poor. Where did Congress lose the vision of there is no limit to what a person can become IF they are willing to work for it. I received my bachelor degree at 38 yrs old, my master's after that and almost completed my Dr. at 64. At 72, just retired from teaching part-time at a university. Oh, my dad was a house painter. I believe and practiced "you are what you want to be". Stand up and be counted for those of us who are the "Real Quiet Americans"!. thank you. PS. Yes our whole family voted.

We agree wholeheartedly. This health care law was imposed upon us by the Obama administration and crammed down our throats. WE DO NOT WANT IT!!! It is wrong in more ways than can be counted. Thank you so much, Dr. Burgess, for standing for the people and for what is right. I miss you as my doctor, but I am grateful God has placed you where you are. You have our prayers and support. Thank you again.

In response to Dr. Burgess' Thanksgiving Day video, I give thanks for my family and President Obama, Vice-President Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.I am also grateful for Obamacare. Even though, I currently live in a state with a backwards government, other Americans will still be able to participate in the program. As a Doctor, I would have thought Dr. Burgess would have tried to find a way for a state, with one of the highest numbers of uninsured citizens, to aid their citizens. Instead, I will give thanks for Soledad O'Brien, of CNN for her thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening interview of Dr. Burgess. Dr. Burgess, seems only to carry water for the BIG BOYS, and to "mouth the party-line". What a waste of a seat in the House of Representatives.

I know that Dr. Burgess and his staff choose to censor and inhibit any comments that do not reflect their own. However, as a citizen, I am entitled to exercise my right of speech. I am once again commenting on how thankful I am for President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. I am appalled that a physician in the House of Representatives , has done virtually nothing, the last eight years, to assist his fellow citizens, attain health care. Especially, since he represents a state, that has a miserable reputation, in almost every regard. Last in education, access to health care, air quality, consumer-protection, hostile work environments, etc. Yet, Dr. Burgess chose to appear on CNN.So, I want to give thanks to Soledad O'Brien for her enlightening interview of Dr. Burgess. With so many things that need to be done, that fact that Dr. Burgess wastes his time, trying to carry the "party-line" for the Republican party instead of the American people. I continue to be disappointed in Dr. Burgess.
