Senator Boxer: New Preventive Health Care Coverage for Women

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Dear Friend:

Today I spoke on the Senate floor about the new preventive health services that will take effect tomorrow for 47 million American women thanks to health care reform.  To watch my speech, please click here.

Because of President Obama’s leadership in signing the law, new health plans will be required to cover contraception, gestational diabetes screening, HIV screening, breastfeeding support, domestic violence screening and counseling, and an annual well-woman visit – all at no cost to women.

Instead of joining us to celebrate these new benefits, Republicans announced that they will try once again to repeal the Affordable Care Act – and thereby deny women these critical services and so many other protections under the law.

To learn more about these new health benefits – and why we must fight to preserve the Affordable Care Act’s protections for women and their families – please click here.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer, US Senator, California
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
