WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Republican leaders late last week requested the Food and Drug Administration provide internal documents related to the deadly meningitis outbreak by November 30, 2012.
Excerpt: In order to effectively and responsibly address the question of clarifying or enhancing FDA’s authority over compounding pharmacies, the committee must identify what happened at the New England Compounding Center (NECC), and why FDA did not use its authority to take enforcement action against NECC until October 2012, after the meningitis outbreak.
Excerpt: We write to express our strong opposition to certain provisions relating to the Department of Energy’s nuclear defense and related programs in the House-passed national defense authorization bill.
