Udall Urges U.S. House of Representatives to Spare Middle-Class Families from Tax Hike
Mark Udall called on his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives today to give the “Middle Class Tax Cut Act” an up-or-down vote to spare the middle class from a New Year’s tax hike. The bill, which passed the U.S. Senate in July, would extend the Bush tax cuts for the first $250,000 a family earns — sparing 98 percent of Americans from seeing a tax hike on January 1, 2013.

The Colorado members are seeking a boost to resources for the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program to help support the long-term recovery efforts of this summer’s devastating wildfires in Colorado as well as from other natural disasters that struck across the country.

Udall Rejects Calls from GOP Lawmakers to Sell Off Public Lands to Raise Revenues
Mark Udall said it would be imprudent and detrimental to the Western economy if the federal government were to sell off public lands as part of a deal to avert the fiscal cliff. Reps. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) and Stevan Pearce (R-N.M.) floated this idea in a letter this week to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Udall, Grassley Join Veterans in Urging Congress to Extend the Wind PTC ASAP
Senators Mark Udall and Chuck Grassley headlined a press conference today to stress the urgency of extending the wind Production Tax Credit and securing thousands of manufacturing jobs and made-in-America energy. The senators were joined by Reps. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.) and Steve King (R-Iowa), as well as 40 veterans, many of whom have found post-military careers in the wind energy industry. The veterans were participating in an Operation Free two-day fly-in in which they met with members of Congress from their home states. The congressional members and veterans came together around one message to Congress: Stop delaying the extension of the wind PTC and secure American jobs and energy security now.
